Help preserve the environment by utilizing our recycling services

The Environmental Benefits of Our Work
We are currently facing many environmental challenges that demand solutions. The most pressing of these challenges include climate change or global warming, the rapid depletion of natural resources, the pollution of our air and water, and the eradication of wildlife species. In order to combat these detrimental changes to our environment, we must crown recycling as the dynamic, all-encompassing alternative to landfills. Landfills are linked to all of the environmental problems of today by one simple aspect; they produce the need to process virgin materials. When products are thrown away rather than reused, we must turn to the earth for more material. It is the harvesting and processing of Earth's resources that cause the problems of global warming, depletion of natural resources, pollution and eradication of wildlife species.
The major benefit that recycling has over throwing trash in a landfill is that it eliminates the need to process virgin materials. One way that the processing of virgin materials takes a toll on the environment is that it results in significant amounts of toxic emissions. Machinery used to gather, transport, and prepare new material for use emit alarming amounts of toxins. A national recycling rate of 30% would decrease the need for environmentally hazardous machinery and reduce toxic emissions as much as removing 25 million cars from the road! Using virgin materials as opposed to recycled materials also results in the depletion of natural resources and the destruction of the ecosystems that rely on such resources. For every ton of paper recycled, 17 trees are saved.
Located in the dry desert region of Northern Nevada, we at High Desert Recycling are all too familiar with the importance of preserving natural resources, especially water. The production of new paper results in the consumption of vast amounts of fresh water. In contrast, the production of recycled paper uses less than half the amount of water. For every ton of paper recycled, 7,000 gallons of water are saved. Help to do your part to ensure the preservation of water in this region by utilizing the recycling services provided by High Desert; afford our children and our children's children the opportunity to enjoy the environment as we have.
